Chaos-Wrench / Ratchet & Clank fanart

Inspired by the iconic Blades of Chaos from God of War, I imagined a Ratchet & Clank-style adaptation: the "Chaos-Wrench." This design functions both as a tool and a weapon, just like Ratchet's Omni-Wrench.

For this project, I managed the entire pipeline from concept to final render, with a primary focus on texturing.

During the texturing process, I aimed to achieve specific shading effects. In addition to crafting detailed textures, I set up custom maps for shader layering. This approach enabled dynamic texture adjustments and the integration of custom maps throughout the project.

I utilized Substance Painter and Photoshop for the creation of the entire texture sets, finalizing some in Substance Designer, where I also developed a normal-based cavity map generator.

Key elements of the shading process included:
- Height-based IOR for the greasy parts
- Enhanced dust shading using a subtle sheen layer
